Gateway ML3109 Drivers for Windows XP

Posted August 20th, 2007

This retail Gateway laptop was released with Windows Vista only.  I purchased it, and noticed that the performance out of the box was worse than dismal. With 512MB of memory, the machine spends all of its time swapping. Rather than buy more memory, I decided Id install an OS that has been around for a long time, and has much more reasonable requirements Windows XP. It took drivers from serveral disparate sources to come up with a completely working system. Ill link sources to the drivers that I used below. Be sure to install XP with Service Pack 2 (or install SP2 in safe mode once XP is installed) or a Blue Screen of Death will result. Im not available to help on a one-on-one basis, but I hope that the following links and suggestions are helpful:

Marvell 10/100 network:

Realtek 8185L 802.11b/g network:

SigmaTel Audio (be sure to install the KB888111 as well):

Agere HDA Modem:

Omega ATI Radeon 200M graphics (third-party driver):

USB2.0 and SMBus (unpacks drivers to C:\ATI, wont install):

These files are hosted on a server that is not free to maintain, and some of the files are fairly large. I tried first linking to the original locations, but found it difficult to maintain working links. If this saves you time and/or frustration, you might consider leaving some spare change in the tip jar below. It is certainly not required, requested, or expected.
